Edge computing is a distributed computing paradigm in which data, compute, storage and applications are located close to the sources of data. It brings computation and data storage closer to the location where it is needed, to improve response times and save bandwidth. Edge computing relies on edge devices such as microcontrollers, gateways, servers or computers that are located at the edge of the network. These devices process data locally instead of relying on cloud-based services.
